Overview

About this product

Figurine – De Blauwe Dodo 🦤💙

Ceramic – Heinen Delfts Blauw

At first glance, the dodo and Delft blue pottery may seem unrelated. However, their history intersects in the 17th century, when Dutch traders discovered this now-legendary bird.

🦤 A mythical bird : the dodo, flightless and without any real predators, saw its habitat disrupted by the arrival of Dutch traders in Mauritius. Having become a curiosity and an offering to emperors, it unfortunately disappeared, giving way to a universal legend.
💙 A ceramic legacy : this figurine combines the memory of this extinct animal with Delft Blue art , a symbol of the Dutch Golden Age.
🎨 An artist's work : imagined by Pepijn, passionate about history and travel, it combines historical narration and decorative craftsmanship .
🏡 Unique piece : ideal as an original decorative element or as a meaningful gift.

👉 A figurine that embodies history, culture and artisanal elegance , connecting the legend of the dodo with the timeless art of Delft.
