Each doormat is made from the husk of approximately 25 coconuts. The husks are first left to "mature" in coastal lagoons where they are harvested, then hand-beaten to extract the fiber. The doormats are then hand-painted and colored, one by one, using various stencils. A traditional open-air sun-drying technique then fixes the paint to the doormat's surface. Finally, a non-slip base is added to keep the doormat firmly in place and reduce the risk of slipping.
