Description +
Recognizable by its black and white plumage and orange markings near its neck, the emperor penguin is the largest of all penguins. Living in Antarctica, it is perfectly adapted to the extreme cold and windy conditions that prevail on the ice floe.
A surprising fact: it is the only bird to breed in the middle of the austral winter. While the female goes out to sea to feed, the male carefully guards the egg on his feet, protected under a fold of skin called an "incubation pouch", and can go for several weeks without eating. Excellent swimmers, emperor penguins dive to depths of over 500 meters to catch fish, squid, and krill.
This Papo figurine realistically depicts the emperor penguin: contrasting plumage, slender silhouette, and meticulous details. An ideal model to enrich a collection of marine animals, invent stories about the ice floe, or educate children about the incredible adaptations of polar wildlife.
